The Deputy Minister for Defence, Mr. Enerst Brogya Genfi, and the Mexican Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Norma Ang, have reaffirmed their shared commitment to multilateralism, democracy, and sustainable development.
Both leaders acknowledged the growing importance of Ghana–Mexico cooperation in addressing global challenges such as peacekeeping, climate change, and migration.
Their discussion took place during a courtesy call by the Ambassador to the Deputy Minister’s office in Accra on Monday.
The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations, with a focus on enhancing defence and security cooperation, exploring opportunities for training exchanges and technological collaboration, as well as improving disaster management capabilities.
The Deputy Minister expressed appreciation for the Ambassador’s visit and the insights she shared, particularly regarding disaster response and recovery.
He highlighted Ghana’s interest in training exchanges and technology transfer as key areas to strengthen national response systems.
Mr. Genfi also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to inclusion and gender equality through its Affirmative Action Plan.
The Deputy Minister emphasized Ghana’s role as a gateway to West Africa and welcomed Mexico’s interest in expanding its partnerships across the region.
He expressed optimism that this renewed engagement would pave the way for stronger collaboration across defence, economic, and cultural sectors, ultimately benefiting both nations.
Mr. Genfi further assured the Ambassador of Ghana’s readiness to work closely with Mexico to advance mutual interests and deepen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
