NDPC and KOICA Sign agreement to build strong partnership and improve Agribusiness

The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Forson, has appreciated the Government of Korea, Korea Development Assistant, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) for the signing of the record of discussion between them aimed to build strong partnership and improve the Agribusiness.

This agreement was on the theme “Strengthening of Agribusiness Value Chains for Local Economic Development in Ghana.”

In his statement, the Minister noted that, the US$9.5 million grant initiative would lower post-harvest losses, increase productivity, create jobs, and enhance institutional capacity which will be assisted by the construction of processing centers and substantial training for farmers, extension officers and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs.)

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to facilitating all required tax exemptions under the Exemptions Act, providing budgetary support, ensuring effective oversight, and working keenly with KOICA and NDPC to guarantee easy implementation.

The Director-General of NDPC, Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, said, strengthening agribusiness value chains is important for boosting productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and enhancing food and nutrition security hence describing the revival of the project as prompt, one that aligns with government priorities in agricultural modernization, job creation, and local economic development.

She expressed appreciation to KOICA for its long-established support to Ghana, noting that NDPC has benefited from capacity building, knowledge exchange, and project support over the years.

Ambassador for Korea, Park Kyonsig restated Korea’s strong commitment to Ghana’s economic transformation, describing the US$9.5 million project as a significant step in deepening development cooperation between the two countries.
