The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has commenced an investigation into complaints about meals served under the Ghana School Feeding Programme at Buaduyili Primary School in the Nanumba North Municipality.
The move follows concerns raised by parents and teachers over the quality and quantity of food being provided to pupils at the school.
The Ministry stated this in a press statement released on Tuesday, in Accra, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring that children enrolled in the programme receive nutritious and adequate meals in a safe learning environment.
According to the Ministry, the Ghana School Feeding Programme remains a key social intervention designed to reduce hunger among schoolchildren, boost school enrolment and attendance, as well as improve the nutritional well-being of pupils across the country
It said the ministry is working with the Ghana School Feeding Programme Secretariat to establish the facts surrounding the reported incident, and the investigation will determine whether any breaches occurred, with authorities promising sanctions against any individual or organisation found responsible.
The Ministry stressed that the government, through its Reset Agenda, is implementing measures to strengthen the management, financing, and monitoring of the School Feeding Programme.
These efforts, it noted, would improve accountability, efficiency, and the quality of services delivered to beneficiaries.
MoGCSP warned that any actions that undermine the objectives and standards of the programme would not be tolerated.
The Ministry also called on regional and zonal coordinators, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, community leaders, parents, the media, and the general public to support efforts to monitor the programme and promote transparency.
It noted that the Ministry would protect the integrity of the Ghana School Feeding Programme and ensure that it continues to contribute positively to the growth, development, and education of Ghanaian pupils.
