The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary suspension of its recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region following a stampede at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday morning.
In a press statement, GAF expressed deep regret over the tragedy that occurred during the 2025/2026 recruitment process.
The Ghana Armed Forces said the suspension was to allow for additional safety measures to be put in place to ensure a seamless and secure continuation of the exercise.
The statement added that a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, the GAF said recruitment activities in the remaining 15 regions would proceed as scheduled.
“The Ghana Armed Forces deeply regret any inconvenience this suspension may cause the public, particularly affected applicants,” it noted.
