Foreign Affairs Ministry Outlines Procedures for Travel Certificates and Laissez Passers

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued guidelines for Ghanaians who wish to request for Travel Certificate from the Ministry.

In a release issued by the Ministry on Monday in Accra, it stated that citizens are required to submit a list of documents to the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau of the Ministry.

“Applicants must submit the following documents to the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau: the bio-data page of a valid or expired passport, two recent passport-sized photographs, a flight itinerary, and a signed application letter stating the purpose of travel,” it said.

The Ministry urged Ghanaians to check with the relevant airline to ensure that Travel Certificates are accepted for boarding, before submitting applications, as airline policies may vary.

” Applicants must then pay a GH¢200 processing fee in cash at the Ministry’s designated payment point. A receipt will be issued, which must be presented along with the application documents to the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau for processing,” it said.

It noted that for a Laissez Passer, applicants must provide an application letter, a parental consent letter (if applicable), the vehicle registration number, a Ghana card or passport bio-data page, and the driver’s passport bio-data page.

“After submitting these documents, applicants must proceed to the designated payment point to pay the required fee. Once payment is confirmed, they must present the receipt along with their application to the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau for processing,” it added.

The Ministry encouraged the public to contact the Consular and Humanitarian Affairs Bureau for further assistance at +233204552750 or consular@mfa.gov.gh.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient and transparent services to Ghanaians at home and abroad.
