Farmers In Atwima Mponua District Benefit from Nkokɔ Nkitinkiti Project

Two hundred and fifty farmers in Atwima Mponua District have received 6,700 four-week-old chicks under the Nkokɔ Nkitikiti Project.

The historic distribution took place at Srebourso on Monday, marking a major milestone in efforts to boost local poultry production and strengthen livelihoods across the district. The initiative fulfils the President’s campaign pledge aimed at supporting livestock farmers and improving food security.

Beneficiaries were excited and grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for keeping faith with Ghanaian livestock farmers.

Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive, Mr Issahak Ibrahim, made it clear that the intervention was non-partisan and inclusive, stressing that the project has been designed to benefit all Ghanaians regardless of political affiliation, creed, or colour. In line with this principle, beneficiaries were carefully selected from diverse backgrounds across the district.

He urged recipients to take proper care of the chicks and to embrace innovative and sustainable poultry practices, emphasising that the long-term success of the programme depends on how well farmers nurture this initial support into viable enterprises.

Mr Issahak also gave special commendation to Yerepa Farms, responsible for raising the chicks from day-old to four weeks before distribution. He praised the farm’s professionalism and dedication, describing their role as critical to the success of the exercise.

Further appreciation was extended to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Atwima Mponua District Agriculture Office, and all officers and partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a smooth and successful rollout.
