The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure development.
He said this on Monday in Accra during a meeting with a delegation from AlphaVecta Technologies Limited ahead of the One Vecta Summit 2026, scheduled for September 2026 in Accra, which would focus on exploring strategic partnership opportunities.
Mr George highlighted government efforts to establish a 250-million-dollar AI compute infrastructure to serve Ghana and the wider sub-region.
He highlighted Ghana’s growing role in tech diplomacy, citing ongoing engagements with countries such as Zambia and Malawi to export digital solutions, including digital identity systems.
According to him, the Ministry would work closely with the organisers to refine the scope of engagement and ensure alignment with national development priorities.
He further directed that discussions be advanced through the Ministry’s technical teams, particularly in sectors such as health, education, financial inclusion, e-governance and digital architecture.
The Chief Executive Officer of AlphaVecta Technologies and Convener of the One Vecta AI Summit, Mr Calors Amoako, described the initiative as an evolution of the successful Pan African AI Summit 2025.
He explained that the summit would bring together ministers, regulators, industry leaders, and innovators from across Africa to drive practical outcomes in the adoption of artificial intelligence.
Mr Amoako said the forum would focus on developing policy frameworks, implementation roadmaps, and investment pathways to accelerate AI innovation across the continent.
He stressed the need for African countries to move beyond discussions and focus on implementation, in line with Ghana’s ambition to lead Africa’s digital transformation efforts.
According to him, the One Vecta Summit 2026 would also position Accra as a leading continental hub for emerging technologies while strengthening partnerships, investments, and cross-border collaboration in Africa’s growing AI ecosystem.
He formally requested the Minister to serve as Chair and Continental Patron of the upcoming summit.
