The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, has unveiled extensive plans to expand digital infrastructure across the Dagbon Kingdom as part of the government’s broader agenda to enhance connectivity and digital inclusion.
The Minister disclosed this during a visit last Friday to the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, in Accra.
He noted that the Ministry, through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), will establish new rural telephony sites within the traditional area to improve communication and support business activities.
Mr George stated that computer centres will be set up across various communities under President Mahama’s “One Million Coder Project”, aimed at training young people in digital skills and innovation.
“There’s a lot that’s coming to Dagbon from the Ministry of Communication,” the Minister assured, reaffirming the government’s commitment to extending digital opportunities to every part of the country.
The Minister expressed gratitude for the blessings received and reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with traditional authorities to meet the digital aspirations of the Dagbon.
His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II expressed delight at the announcement and commended the Minister for his continued efforts to advance national development.
He prayed for divine wisdom and strength to enable him to carry out his responsibilities effectively.
