Central Regional Peace Council Partners with Kastle FM to Advocate Cultural Tolerance in Cape Coast

The Central Regional Peace Council, in partnership with Kastle FM, Cape Coast, has held an insightful radio discussion on the theme “Promoting Cultural Tolerance and Understanding in the Central Region.”

The discussions sought to encourage peace, harmony, and mutual respect among the region’s diverse ethnic and cultural groups.

The discussion formed part of the Council’s broader efforts to foster peaceful coexistence through public education and open dialogue.

Participants and listeners were urged to embrace diversity and strengthen inter-community relationships to ensure long-term peace and development.

Delivering the keynote address on Wednesday in Cape Coast, a Council Member of the Central Regional Peace Council, Dr. Joyce De-Graft Acquah, underscored the importance of cultivating respect across cultural lines.

“Cultural tolerance goes beyond mere acceptance, it involves developing an attitude of respect toward people whose cultural practices differ from ours and when we learn to appreciate other cultures, it reduces conflict, promotes cooperation, and builds mutual respect among communities.” she stated.

The Regional Executive Secretary of the Peace Council, Dr. Charles Ohene Amoh, emphasized that tolerance is not only a moral virtue but also a key driver of development and also  cultural tolerance is a critical pillar of peace and development that  promotes national unity, enhances social cohesion, and attracts investment.

The program sparked meaningful contributions from listeners and community representatives, reaffirming the shared commitment to promoting peace through cultural understanding.

The Central Regional Peace Council reiterated its resolve to continue working with media partners, traditional leaders, and civic organizations to build a more tolerant and united society.
