
Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council gets a Sickbay
September 15, 2025 News / Regional 0 CommentThe Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has been provided with a sickbay to cater for the basic health needs of its staff members and the community.
The sickbay, which is headed by a resident nurse, boasts of accommodation for health professionals and equipped with essential medical logistics.
Speaking to the media after the commissioning of the facility, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, said the importance he attaches to the health needs of the staff members informed his decision to provide this facility.
“The workload here is demanding, and as a doctor, I understand the need to ensure staff have immediate access to healthcare,” he stated.
The Minister revealed that the project was fast-tracked following discussions with the Chief Director of the ARCC, Mr. Michael Owusu Amoako, who facilitated the allocation of space and resources for the sickbay.
Dr. Amoakohene expressed gratitude to the Regional Director of Health for their support in making the facility a reality.
He urged staff of the ARCC to utilize the sickbay responsibly, assuring them that he would personally be available to handle cases requiring the attention of a doctor.
“For more complex cases, Suntreso Hospital will serve as the referral point,” he said.
Mr. Owusu Amoako, described the facility as a game-changer, saying “We have lost colleagues to emergency conditions that could have been managed with timely intervention so, this sickbay will help prevent such tragedies.”
The new sickbay is expected to provide immediate medical care to staff, reducing downtime and ensuring a healthier and more productive workforce.
The facility is a testament to the regional administration’s commitment to employee well-being, setting as a precedent for other institutions in the region.
