AFIGYA KWABRE NORTH NADMO STAFF SENSITIZED ON RTI ACT TO PROMOTE TRANSPARENCY

Staff of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Afigya Kwabre North District have been sensitized on the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2019 (Act 989) as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and openness in public service delivery. The sensitization programme was conducted on 31st March, 2026, by the RTI Officer for the Afigya Kwabre North District Assembly, Miss Yvonne Opoku Agyemang.

During the engagement, Miss Yvonne Opoku Agyemang took participants through the key provisions of the RTI Act and highlighted the importance of the law in promoting access to information within public institutions. The discussion focused on procedures for requesting information under Section 18 of the Act, the responsibilities of public institutions in facilitating access to information, persons qualified to request information, and categories of exempt information protected under the law.

The session was highly interactive as staff members actively participated in discussions and raised important questions regarding the practical implementation of the RTI Act. Miss Yvonne addressed all concerns raised and clarified misconceptions surrounding the law, helping participants gain a better understanding of their obligations and the rights of citizens under the Act. The engagement also emphasized the role of Information Officers in ensuring that public institutions remain responsive and accountable to the people they serve.

In her concluding remarks, Miss Yvonne expressed appreciation to the staff for their participation and encouraged them to share the knowledge acquired with others to promote a culture of openness and accountability in public affairs. The sensitization reaffirmed the importance of the RTI Act as a vital tool for strengthening open governance and building public confidence in state institutions.
