As part of efforts to improve sanitation in the metropolis, the Mayor of Accra, Mr Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has led the removal of unauthorised structures along the shoulders of major streets and government-reserved lands across the city.
This initiative was part of a broader effort to enhance sanitation conditions and facilitate smoother movement within the country.
The operation focused on areas such as the Awudome Cemetery stretch, Awudome roundabout, the fascia of the Royal House Chapel, North Kaneshie Last Stop, as well as the Tuesday market.
At the Tuesday market, the mayor also inspected the ongoing evacuation of solid waste and the desilting of drains around the market area to improve sanitation conditions and ease movement.
He also announced that, “the Assembly will conduct a comprehensive clean-up exercise during the upcoming National Sanitation Day activities, therefore all members around its environs should prepare towards it.”
