MoGCSP assures the public of action on all abuse reported cases.

The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) in collaboration with the Police, civil society organizations and all relevant agencies have assured the public of its commitment to investigate the numerous reports and video footages circulating across various media platforms regarding alleged cases of abuse and violence, whether recent or old.

It said investigations would be conducted into each case to ensure that perpetrators of these acts are held accountable adding that, “We want to assure the public that every issue brought to the Ministry’s attention is noted with the utmost seriousness.”

The Ministry stated this in a Press Statement yesterday in Accra.

According to the statement, the ministry commends and value the public’s vigilance in bringing these matters to their attention. “Indeed, we need all hands on deck, and we will continue to count on you to report incidents of abuse and support efforts to protect the vulnerable in our society” it emphasized.

It assured the public that some victims of abuse are currently receiving the necessary psychosocial and legal support, including placement in safe shelters where needed.

   “We continue to encourage the public to report incidents of abuse through our call centres, as the protection of the vulnerable is a collective responsibility” it noted.

 MoGCSP state that it will collaborate with the Police to provide periodic updates on cases under investigation, ensure transparency and keep the public informed by providing periodic updates on cases under investigation.

It encouraged the public to report all suspected cases through the Domestic Violence Call Centre on 0800-111-222 or the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope call centre on 0800-800-800/0800-900-900 or the nearest police station.
