Ghana Armed Forces and Police Launch Joint Operations to Enhance Security

The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service have launched simultaneous targeted joint operations to enhance security in the Ashanti and Volta Regions.

These operations began at dawn on Wednesday in key locations, including Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.

According to a press release, the operations aim to apprehend individuals identified as being involved in recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), police officers, officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and journalists.

The Armed Forces and Police Service have stated that any individual or group attempting to obstruct their operations will face severe legal consequences as part of their commitment to upholding the law during anti-galamsey initiatives.

They assured the general public that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of law-abiding residents in these towns and communities.

“Citizens are encouraged to remain calm and continue with their daily activities without fear or panic,” the press release stated

The Security Services expressed gratitude to civil society groups, the media, and the public for their strong condemnation of the recent attacks on security personnel involved in the anti-galamsey drive.

They called for continued cooperation from the public as they work to restore safety and order in the affected areas.
