The Minister for the Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of security personnel.
He said during a working visit to the Volta Region, the Minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by security officers in safeguarding the nation and assured them that the government remains focused on addressing their concerns.
He noted that a motivated security service is essential to maintaining peace and stability in the country.
According to him, the role played by security personnel in preserving law and order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring national stability cannot be overstated.
“Security personnel play a critical role in ensuring peace and stability in this country. Your welfare is equally important so you can continue the hard work of keeping our nation safe,” he stated. “You should not be worried; the government prioritises you.”
Mr Muntaka stated that measures are being pursued by the government to improve the welfare of personnel across the security services. These include the mechanisation of rent allowances through the payroll system, improved office accommodation, provision of vehicles and other operational logistics, as well as addressing promotion-related concerns.
He assured officers that issues raised during the engagement would receive the necessary attention and consideration.
The Minister noted that investing in the welfare of security personnel is not only a matter of improving working conditions but also a strategic step towards enhancing the effectiveness of the country’s security architecture.
In a separate engagement with non-security agencies operating under the Ministry of the Interior, Mr Muntaka commended staff for their dedication to public service delivery and pledged to work towards resolving challenges affecting their operations.
He emphasised the important role these institutions play in supporting the Ministry’s mandate and assured them of his commitment to creating an enabling environment for improved performance.
The Interior Minister expressed appreciation to the Volta Regional Minister, Regional Security Commanders and officers for their cooperation and support throughout the tour.
The working visit forms part of the Minister’s efforts to engage personnel directly, assess operational challenges, and strengthen collaboration among agencies under the Ministry of the Interior.
