The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced steady progress on two major road projects under the government’s Big Push initiative in the Eastern Corridor, which are already 40 per cent complete.
According to the Ministry, the upgrading of the Akosombo–Gyakiti–Kudikope Road (23.6km) and the Yeiniama Junction–Sedorm Feeder Road Project (8.4km), which commenced in November 2025, are expected to be completed in November 2027.
It noted that so far, the contractor has completed site clearing, achieved 80 per cent of U-drains and 70 per cent of culvert construction, while pavement formation and subbase works are progressing steadily.
“The scope of the projects includes site clearance, earthworks, construction of U-drains and culverts, subbase and base works, double sealed bituminous surface dressing, and installation of road furniture and associated works,” the Ministry said.
It added that upon completion, the roads will improve mobility and safety, reduce travel time, enhance trade and tourism, minimise flooding, and create employment opportunities.
Residents of Akosombo, Adjena, Adumasa, Gyakiti, Anyaase, Mpaproase, Kudikope, Yeiniama, and Sedorm have expressed excitement at the pace of work, welcoming the transformation the projects promise to bring to their communities.
