Interior Minister Pledges Stronger Ghana–Turkey Ties at Prison Donation

The Minister for Interior, Mr Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Turkey, following a donation of assorted food items from the Hudai Foundation to support prison inmates during Ramadan.

Speaking at the National Mosque in Kanda, Accra, the Minister praised the Turkish Government and the Hudai Foundation for their annual gesture of goodwill.

He noted that such acts of charity not only improve the welfare of inmates but also strengthen the bonds of friendship between Ghana and Turkey.

“We appreciate this kind gesture from the Hudai Foundation and the Turkish Government. As a ministry, we are committed to ensuring that the health and well-being of inmates are taken care of, despite their circumstances. We welcome any support that can help improve the conditions in our prisons,” he said.

The assorted food items included rice, tomato paste, spaghetti, sunflower oil, and sugar, which will be distributed to inmates across the country during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Hudai Country Coordinator, Mr Remzi Şeker, explained that the donation was part of the Foundation’s broader humanitarian mission.

“Ramadan is a month of blessings and sacrifices, and we believe it is our duty to support those in need. We will continue to do our best to provide support to the needy and vulnerable, including prison inmates,” he stated.

The Hudai Foundation, a Turkish charitable organisation, has been active in Ghana, providing food, clothing, and medical supplies to vulnerable groups such as orphans, widows, and prisoners.
