Ghana to Launch E-Visa System in 2026 to Boost Diaspora Investment

The Government will launch an electronic visa system early next year as directed by the President to streamline entry for international visitors and investors.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the policy at the close of the Diaspora Summit 2025 on Saturday in Accra.

He stated that, the new E-visa platform will start operation in the first quarter of 2026 with a reduced fee structure for the global African diaspora to support the system.

“We will have a special dispensation for Africans in the Diaspora, confirming fees for other visitors would align with charges Ghanaians face abroad”, he noted

Mr.Ablakwa said the new visa system would be linked to broader economic goals where the policy would ease travel and encourage investment.

He also confirmed plans to revive the Ghana Airways.

“Imagine if all of those tickets you bought, that money was an investment in the Ghanaian economy,” he added.

The minister stated that government pursuit of reparatory justice will not delay domestic development emphasizing its commitment to economic transformation and prudent resource management.

“With or without the reparation, we shall seek development,” he added.

The two-day summit convened delegates from across Africa, the Caribbean, and other nations. President of Council of Ministers of the Togolese Republic, His Excellency Faure Gnassingbe joined President John Dramani Mahama for the inaugural session.
