The Mayor of Accra, Mr. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has commended some caterers of the school feeding programme in the metropolis for serving the school children with quality food.
Upon tasting the meals served to the school children at the Aayalolo Cluster of Schools, John Wesley Methodist, and Accra Sempe Primary Schools in the metropolis, the mayor described them as “nice” and “delicious.”
He said the food served was generally good and encouraged the caterers to maintain the standard, adding that they could also increase the portions to ensure that the children are well fed.
Mr. Allotey said the government has improved payments for the services the caterers render, stating that this underpins his decision to pay the schools surprise visits to assess the programme
He insisted that once funds are released to the caterers, they are bound to ensure that food served is not only in the right proportions but also meets the nutritional needs of the children.
The city boss used the opportunity to interact with the teachers and caterers of the schools he visited to know their challenges.
The teachers of the Aayalolo Cluster of Schools seized this opportunity to request for a washroom and a gate to secure the school.
He assured the schools that he would follow up on their infrastructural deficits and get them addressed to create a conducive learning environment for the pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff.
