A Council Member of the Central Regional Peace Council, Sheikh Abdul Yahaya Shafiq, has urged traditional and religious leaders to use their influence to promote understanding and peaceful coexistence.

Speaking on a radio discussion program themed “The Role of Traditional and Religious Leaders in Peacebuilding” in Cape Coast, he emphasised that these leaders have a God-given duty to guide their communities with fairness and wisdom.

Another Council Member, Mama Awotsu Adzagba II, also stressed that peace is essential to every aspect of life. She called on traditional leaders to remain neutral, fair, and inclusive in their leadership, highlighting the importance of empowering women and involving all stakeholders in sustaining community harmony.

The engagement aimed to raise public awareness of how traditional and religious leaders contribute to promoting peace, unity, and social cohesion within communities, especially during times of political tension.
