Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has charged the newly appointed envoys of Ghana to promote the nation’s economic interests and support its cultural heritage.
He stated that their primary mission was to build, strengthen, and elevate Ghana by engaging with diaspora communities and local populations in their host countries.
He made this call at the Launch of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Heads of Mission on Monday in Accra.
“Your conduct must be a reflection of Ghana’s values of integrity, respect, hospitality, and discipline, blended with strategic insights, with heartfelt national pride,” he said.
He noted that the main focus will be on economic gains and instructed them to characterise trade, business, investments, and development through strategic partnerships.
“They are to actively promote Ghanaian products, from traditional symbols and food to clothing, to position Ghana as a trusted partner in global commerce,” he added.
He said that the government approved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), aimed at shifting diplomatic efforts from a ceremonial focus to a results-oriented approach.
The new system will evaluate outcomes in areas such as trade and investment.
He urged the envoys to involve the skilled diaspora community, leveraging their talents and expertise for national progress. Cultural diplomacy was emphasised as another important pillar, with a call to include traditional leaders and promote soft cultural exchanges to boost future tourism.
He called for enhancing practical services for citizens abroad, including implementing a more effective system for paying school fees for Ghanaian students facing difficulties overseas.
On her part, the Acting Chief Director for the ministry, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, affirmed the ministry’s readiness to execute its duties, stating it was “positioned to deliver on the state’s agenda”.
The conference, under the theme “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda,” was described as a re-determination of Ghana’s global place.
It aims to lay the foundation for a more professional and effective foreign service dedicated to delivering lasting benefits for the Ghanaian people.
