National Sports Authority to begin monitoring and enforcement initiatives- Sport Minister

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, has disclosed that the National Sports Authority would soon undertake monitoring and enforcement initiatives to ensure that all sports academies adhere to established standards, reinforcing the government’s dedication to excellence in sports development.

He announced this during a meeting with a team from BVB International Academy Ghana, an affiliate of the renowned Borussia Dortmund Football Club in Germany, on Tuesday in Accra.

The academy, established in partnership with Accra Shooting Stars since 2022, was among the pioneering football academies in Africa with a global network spanning Asia and South America, which aims to develop talents aged 5-18 through a structured training program modelled after the successful German club.

Speaking to the delegate, the Minister said the government was committed to maintaining high standards of sports academies across the country, noting the importance of upgrading and sustaining quality training facilities to develop players who can compete at international levels.

Mr Adams commended BVB International Academy Ghana for leading the way in youth talent development and reaffirmed the government’s support for such innovative sports initiatives.

He encouraged BVB International to consider upgrading to a residential facility to broaden access for talents from across Ghana. He also commended Achimota School for its partnership and called on the academy to reciprocate by supporting sports development within the school.
