Government Deepens Industrial Engagement as Trade Minister Tours MND Metals Facility

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has paid a working visit to MND Metals Company Limited as part of the Ministry’s ongoing engagement with key industrial actors in Ghana.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, at Tema, created the opportunity for the Minister to acquaint herself with operational realities, identify sector challenges and assess the extent to which their activities align with the Government’s industrialisation agenda.

Madam Ofosu-Adjare reiterated the Government’s commitment to promoting value addition across the industrial sector.

She explained that the ban on the export of non-ferrous metals was introduced as a deliberate strategic measure to ensure that raw materials are processed domestically, thereby generating employment opportunities for the youth.

“This policy is squarely in line with the Government’s vision to strengthen local industries and drive sustainable economic growth through industrialisation,” she stated.

Madam Ofosu-Adjare indicated that similar engagements with key industrial players across the country will continue, as the Government seeks to monitor the impact of its policies and provide the necessary support to sustain and grow Ghana’s industrial base.

The Chief Executive Officer of MND Metals Company Limited, Mr Nidal Nasseredine, noted that the policy has enabled the company to secure adequate raw materials to sustain and expand its operations.

He further described the visit as a strong demonstration of the Government’s commitment to supporting industries operating in Ghana.
