
Government Calls for Public Tributes Ahead of State Funeral for Crash Victims
August 11, 2025 News / Top Stories 0 CommentThe government has called on all Ghanaians to submit tributes honoring the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash, with messages to be included in the official state funeral brochure.
Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced in a press statement that individuals, institutions, and the public can send condolence messages via email tributes@presidency.gov.gh.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM GMT.
“In the wake of the profound sorrow following the tragic helicopter crash on 6 August 2025, the Funeral Planning Committee extends a solemn invitation to all individuals, institutions, and the public to come together in remembrance and honour the lives of those we so sadly lost,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
The state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square, beginning at 8:00 AM.
The helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Alhaji Dr. Murtala Mohammed, and three Ghana Armed Forces personnel.
The statement emphasized the lasting legacy the victims should leave, stating: “May their courage, dedication, and spirit inspire us all to continue striving for a stronger, more united, and prosperous Ghana.”
