The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has partnered with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International (PoABI), the international arm of Europe’s second-largest port, to leverage their global expertise in innovation and development for the benefit of Ghana’s maritime sector.

During discussions on Wednesday with PoABI’s Managing Director, Mr Kristof Waterschoot, the GMA’s Director General, Dr Kamal-Deen Ali, indicated that the collaboration focuses on two key areas: Capacity building and technical exchange.

Dr Ali noted that the capacity-building aspect will provide specialised training for GMA staff in crucial areas of the maritime value chain, including emerging sectors such as the Green Transition.

“PoABI has already offered scholarships for two GMA staff members to participate in a recent Green Hydrogen Course,” he stated.

He added, “The technical exchange component will facilitate knowledge sharing in essential areas such as Port State Control inspections and ISPS Code compliance.”
