The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to strengthening economic cooperation with Germany.
She said this partnership will drive industrial growth, create jobs, and facilitate technology transfer.
Speaking on Monday at the Ghana–Germany Business Roundtable in Accra, the Minister praised the long-standing relationship between the two countries, describing it as “a model of mutual trust and shared prosperity.”
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare highlighted Ghana’s strengthening economy. She stated that inflation was falling, public debt was decreasing, and investor confidence was increasing.
She explained that the government’s emphasis on fiscal restraint, policy reforms, and the promotion of a favourable business climate contributes to these developments.
The Minister outlined several flagship programmes such as the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, the Feed the Industry Initiative, and the Rapid Industrialisation for Jobs Agenda, all aimed at speeding up industrial transformation.
She explained that these efforts are opening opportunities in manufacturing, agribusiness, renewable energy, logistics, digital innovation, and value-added exports.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare acknowledged Germany as a highly trusted economic partner. She noted that in 2024, bilateral trade exceeded US$670 million.
“German investments are backing sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and services, supporting technology transfer and industrial growth,” she said.
Addressing concerns from some German companies regarding tax administration, exemption delays, and certification, the Minister stated that her Ministry was working with relevant agencies to fix these issues.
The German Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, Dr Thomas Steffen, underscored Ghana’s role as a strategic investment partner.
He revealed that bilateral trade has increased by 30 per cent, crediting Ghana’s sound economic management and appealing investment climate.
Dr Steffen highlighted Ghana’s democratic stability, peaceful environment, and strategic position in the African sub-region, calling the country a reliable business destination.
