Chief of Army Staff receives Danish Armed Forces Delegation

The Chief of  Army Staff (COAS), Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, has received a delegation from the Danish Armed Forces as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral military cooperation between Ghana and Denmark.

The visit, led by the Head of Section for Cooperation and Peace Support at the Danish Armed Forces’ Stabilisation Formation, Marloe Van der Heijden, aimed to familiarise and assess the impact of Denmark’s cooperation and support for the Army Special Operations Brigade as well as explore avenues for enhanced future assistance.

During the visit on Wednesday in Accra, Major General Gbetanu expressed gratitude to the Government and Armed Forces of Denmark for their sustained partnership with the Ghana Army. He highlighted the positive impact of Danish support on the Army Special Operations Brigade’s operational effectiveness.

He noted that the Ghana Army would welcome further assistance, particularly in the areas of training equipment and expanded training opportunities for more Ghana Armed Forces personnel within the Brigade.

Miss Van der Heijden commended Major General Gbetanu for his leadership and stated Denmark’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Army.

She emphasised continued focus on strengthening ASOB through training and joint exercises, in line with shared objectives to enhance capacity and promote regional and international security.

The meeting highlighted the strong defence relations between Ghana and Denmark and reaffirmed both parties’ commitment to deepening cooperation in military training and peace support operations.
