Health Ministry Signs Performance Agreement to Boost Service Delivery

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has established a new standard for accountability and results in public service by signing performance contracts with its agencies.

The Minister of Health, Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, described the initiative as a turning point for Ghana’s health sector, which seeks to shift the focus from intentions to measurable impact.

According to him, the two-year agreement, running from January 2025 to December 2026, commits agency heads to specific deliverables while allowing flexibility for innovation.

“This is not just paperwork; it is about making performance our culture and excellence our daily habit,” he said.

“The system will be driven by regular reviews and transparent assessments aimed at ensuring health institutions deliver tangible improvements for citizens,” he added.

He noted that the Ministry would, under the framework, conduct quarterly reviews, half-year assessments, and annual evaluations to ensure continuous improvement, with excellence rewarded and underperformance addressed.
