The Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has urged the global diaspora to contribute in their country and national development.
She said this at the launch of the Diaspora Summit 2025 on Wednesday in Accra.
She assured potential investors of a secure and welcoming environment.
“You are not apart from Ghana, you are a part of Ghana”, your stories, talents, and sacrifices enrich our national fabric. Now, we need your investment and innovation to build the Ghana we all want together”, she added.
She stated that this initiative calls on Africa and its descendants to construct their own future, adding that economic liberation can only be achieved by connecting their energies and working together.
Madam Bampoe Addo assured the diaspora that Ghana is ready for business and is building a conducive environment for everyone to thrive and contribute to nation-building, emphasizing that their investments are secure in the country.
On his part, the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Mr. Kofi Okyere Darko, stated that the theme affirms that the diaspora is “not outsiders or distant observers, but active participants in our democracy, our economy, and our future.”
He said the event will focus on policy development, investment, and strengthening ties to harness the diaspora’s energy for national development.
Mr. Okyere Darko stated that the Diaspora Affairs Office’s mandate for 2025 is to “build bridges and break barriers” through investment mobilization, skill transfer advancement, and trade promotion.
He also announced the launch of a 24-hour hotline to support returnees and diaspora engagement.
The summit, to be held in December and officially opened by President John Mahama, will bring together government, business, and diaspora leaders under the theme “Resetting Ghana: The Diaspora as a 17th Region.
The summit, a collaboration between the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to create direct pathways for diaspora investment and skills transfer.
