In a speech intended to inspire newly commissioned Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) to give their best, the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Akorli, has described them as “Frontline defenders of safety security and peace.”

Speaking at the passing out parade of the second batch of the CPAs on Tuesday in Ho, he told them that they are the bridge between the community and the police authorities.

He advised them to go beyond enforcing laws and regulations and build trust, foster relationships and provide support to those in need in the communities they would be serving.

“Let us be guided by the principles of integrity, compassion and professionalism,” he admonished them.

He underscored the place of vigilance, proactiveness and responsiveness in their work and encouraged them to uphold these high operational standards.

DCOP Akorli reminded them of their major duties which he said included assisting the police to patrol neighbourhoods to prevent crime and ensure public safety.

The passing out parade saw the graduation of 795 CPAs with 304 coming from the Volta Region and the rest from the Oti and Eastern Regions.
