The Ministry of Defence has announced that the board established to investigate the August 6 Z-9 military helicopter crash has officially begun its work.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the Ministry said that the board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with members drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The statement added that the United States Air Force would also provide technical advice and assistance through visiting investigators.

The Ministry noted that the board may further invite additional local and international experts to support the process.

It recalled that a preliminary investigation team was formed on the day of the crash to gather evidence, with its report scheduled to be submitted to the board on Wednesday.

The Ministry emphasised that the board has been given 30 days to complete its work and present its findings.
