The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has acknowledged the importance of youth involvement in peacebuilding, noting their potential to drive changes in their communities.
He told participants, “You are not here by accident. You are here because you have been chosen not for your status, but for your potential.”
The Deputy Minister made this statement in Accra at the launch of a four-day programme to dialogue with the youth in selected hotspots on conflict prevention.
The initiative brought together young people from Nima and other vulnerable communities to discuss ways to prevent violence and promote peace.
Organised by the National Peace Council in collaboration with the Dallaire Institute and supported by the Ministry of the Interior, the programme aimed to create safe spaces for dialogue, learning, and action. It will equip youth with tools to identify early warning signs of conflict, resist manipulation, and build resilience.
