The Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has asked the public and media to allow the family of the late highlife legend Charles Kojo Fosu to mourn in peace.
She said this while visiting the family home to offer condolences and observe customary traditions after the musician’s passing.
She expressed sympathy towards the widow and stressed the need for the family to have space during this period.
“This is a painful moment for the family, and we should all support them by respecting their privacy. His death is a great loss to the creative arts and the entire country,” she said.
She highlighted the late musician’s talent and his lasting impact on Ghana’s highlife music scene, acknowledging how his work shaped the genre and inspired many artists.
Madam Gomashie disclosed that the Ministry was in the process of organizing a highlife music festival, which the late musician was set to participate in. “It is sad that he passed away at this time. We were working on an event he would have enjoyed and contributed to,” she stated.
According to her, the festival was part of Ghana’s push to have highlife music and Kete recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
The Ministry and creative arts community continue to celebrate the life and work of Charles Kojo Fosu, whose music resonated with countless listeners.
