The Media Division is responsible for the production and dissemination of media content related to government programmes, policies, and activities. This content supports public awareness, transparency, and trust in government by ensuring timely and accurate information reaches citizens.

Purpose and Impact

The Media Division ensures that the citizenry is informed about government programmes and achievements in a compelling, accessible, and engaging manner. Its work enhances transparency, supports behavioural change initiatives, and promotes national development through effective public communication.

Role and Responsibilities

Create media content such as:

  • News stories
  • Feature articles
  • Audio-visual materials (e.g., videos, documentaries, radio jingles)

Disseminate these materials through various communication channels, including:

  • Television
  • Radio
  • Print media
  • Online and social media platforms
  • Public address systems
Newsroom and Channels Unit

The Newsroom and Channels Unit plays a pivotal role in producing and broadcasting accurate and timely information on government initiatives. It supports the government's communication strategy through consistent, factual reporting aimed at informing and engaging the public.

Core Functions:
  • Content Creation and Dissemination:
    Develops and shares content about government programmes and activities across multiple platforms, ensuring wide public reach.
  • News and Feature Production:
    Produces and distributes news stories, feature articles, and media bulletins that highlight government policies and achievements. These are published via: The Department's official channels (e.g., website, newsletter, social media) Mainstream media outlets (TV, radio, newspapers)
  • Media Engagement and Coordination:
    Identifies key national issues and aligns media messaging to reflect government positions or actions. Coordinates with other media houses to ensure consistent public communication.
  • Support to Other Divisions:
    Provides coverage and publicity support for campaigns, press conferences, and outreach programmes organized by other divisions within the Information Services Department.
Audio-Visual Unit

The Audio-Visual Unit is responsible for enhancing public understanding and engagement with government programmes, initiatives, and achievements through the use of compelling visual and audio content. The unit develops and disseminates materials such as TV documentaries, photos, infographics, posters, and flyers. It plays a key role in visual storytelling and national branding.

This unit comprises three main functional desks:
  1. Photos Desk
    • Covers ministerial press briefings, MMDAs events, and other significant state functions.
    • Provides high-quality and professionally curated photographs of government activities.
    • Offers photographic services for both local and international clients, enhancing visibility of national events.
  2. Videos Desk
    • Handles concept development, planning, production, and post-production of:
      • Video documentaries
      • Public education films
      • Sensitization campaigns
    • Provides video coverage and live streaming services for both public and private sector events.
  3. Exhibitions/Design Desk
    • Organizes both on-site and virtual exhibitions showcasing government projects and achievements.
    • Decorates venues for national ceremonies and state functions.
    • Designs and displays Presidential portraits and awareness materials along key streets during state visits and national observances.
