LPG Vessel MT Asharami Ghana to Strengthen Ghana’s Petroleum Infrastructure – Asharami MD

The newly commissioned LPG vessel represents a strategic investment that strengthens Ghana’s downstream petroleum infrastructure and enhances national energy security.

The Managing Director of Asharami Ghana, Madam Yaa Serwaa Alifo, stated this on Thursday at the commissioning ceremony of the LPG vessel MT Asharami Ghana in the Republic of Korea.

She explained that the vessel represents more than capacity at sea, noting that it represents confidence in Ghana’s growth, confidence in the regulatory framework, and confidence in the long-term sustainability of the downstream sector.

Madam Alifo stated that, by expanding LPG storage and distribution capability, Ghana aims to improve supply reliability, strengthen market stability, and position the country to meet rising demand driven by industrial growth and clean cooking initiatives.

She noted that the investment aligns closely with President Mahama’s vision of building a resilient and sustainable downstream sector that promotes cleaner energy solutions while ensuring accessibility and security of supply for Ghanaian households and businesses.

The Managing Director acknowledged the leadership of the Minister of Energy and the National Petroleum Authority in maintaining regulatory discipline.

“Their strong oversight remains essential to sustainable sector growth,” Madam Alifo said.

She thanked the Executive Directors for their strategic guidance and unwavering belief in Ghana’s potential.

Madam Alifo expressed appreciation to valued partners and hosts for their technical expertise and collaboration in delivering the project.

She stated that the partnership reflects the strength of international cooperation in advancing infrastructure.

The Managing Director quoted a Ghanaian proverb, stating that “Insabako inkwa abiswa, which means one hand cannot lift a heavy load.”

She explained that the achievement is the result of shared commitment between government, regulator, private sector, and international partners.

Madam Alifo stated that as Managing Director of Asharami Ghana, she is proud that the vessel strengthens operational capacity and supports Ghana’s journey toward a more secure, efficient, and forward-looking energy landscape.

She declared that on behalf of Sahara Group, the company remains committed to investing responsibly, operating safely, and partnering with stakeholders to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s energy transformation.

The Managing Director stated that the vessel should stand as a lasting symbol of partnership, progress, and national development.

“Today, we commission not merely an asset at sea, but a stronger foundation for Ghana’s energy future. A decisive step forward in building a resilient, secure, and modern downstream sector,” Madam Alifo said.

She noted that the commissioning represents a step forward in building a resilient, secure, and modern downstream sector for Ghana.

The vessel was commissioned by President John Dramani Mahama during his five-day working visit to the Republic of Korea.
