The Newsroom and Channels Unit plays a pivotal role in producing and broadcasting accurate and timely information on government initiatives. It supports the government’s communication strategy through consistent, factual reporting aimed at informing and engaging the public.

 

Functions of the Newsroom and Channels Unit

The Newsroom and Channels Unit plays a pivotal role in producing and broadcasting accurate and timely information on government initiatives. It supports the government’s communication strategy through consistent, factual reporting aimed at informing and engaging the public.

  • The unit is responsible for creating and disseminating content on government programmes and activities through various channels.
  • Produces and distribute news stories and feature articles related to government programmes and policies on the Department’s channels and mainstream media.
  • Identifies and addresses issues of misinformation on mainstream and social media and manages the Department’s website and social media channels.
  • Issuing of press accreditation to foreign media personnel working in the country to film or produce documentaries of all kinds and to local media personnel to cover national events.
  • Assists in coordinating and facilitating press coverage of the Ministry and Department’s activities.
  • Building and maintaining contacts with local and international media outlets to ensure good coverage of government programmes and activities.

Audio-Visual Unit

The Audio-visual unit is mandated to develop and promote public understanding of government programmes and activities through audio-visual materials such as TV documentaries, infographics, pictures, posters, and flyers. The unit comprises Videos, Photos and Exhibitions/ Design Desks.

Photos and Exhibitions/ Design Desks.

The Photos Desk is responsible for the coverage of Ministers press briefings, events of MMDAs, and other state engagements. It also provides high-quality photographs of government activities for clients both at home and abroad.

Videos Desk

The Videos Desk designs concepts, plans, production and post-production of video documentary and films for public education campaigns and sensitizations. They also provide video coverage and live streaming for public and private events.

Exhibitions/Design Desk

The Exhibitions/Design Desk organizes high profile on-site and online exhibitions on government programmes and achievements. it also decorates venues for national events and creates awareness on state visits by displaying Presidential portraits at the selected streets.
