Lands Minister arrives in South Africa ahead of 2026 African Mining Indaba

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), has arrived in South Africa to participate in the 2026 African Mining Indaba Conference, Africa’s largest mining investment and policy forum.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry, the minister touched down on Sunday, February 8, 2026, ahead of the high-level conference, which convenes governments, global mining companies, investors, and regulators from across the continent and beyond.

The statement noted that this year’s African Mining Indaba is expected to focus on critical challenges facing the mining industry, including sustainability, value addition, regulatory reforms, and the strengthening of partnerships between African governments and international investors.

The forum also provides a platform for dialogue on policies aimed at unlocking Africa’s vast mineral resources while safeguarding environmental protection and promoting community development.

As part of Ghana’s participation, the Minister will feature the highly anticipated Ghana Day event scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The event is expected to showcase Ghana’s mining and investment potential while deepening investor interest in the country’s extractive sector.

The ministry indicated that Ghana, Africa’s leading gold producer, will use the platform to highlight opportunities across its mining value chain, reaffirm its commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices, and attract strategic investments to drive economic growth and job creation.

According to the Lands Ministry, Ghana’s presence at the 2026 African Mining Indaba aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of strengthening the mining sector through expanded global partnerships and targeted strategic investment initiatives, positioning the country as a preferred destination for sustainable mining investment in Africa.
