Government Condemns Dubai Drone Attack

Government has condemned the drone attack near Dubai International Airport that injured two Ghanaian nationals, saying acts that endanger civilian lives and infrastructure pose risks to public safety.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued this condemnation in a press release on Wednesday, stressing the need to protect civilians and key facilities at international transport hubs.

The ministry confirmed that it received information from authorities in the United Arab Emirates that the incident occurred on Tuesday near Dubai International Airport, resulting in injuries to the two Ghanaians.

It stated that Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates has led a delegation from the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai to visit the injured nationals in hospital.

According to the ministry, their injuries are not life-threatening, and they are expected to recover.

The government expressed concern about the incident and conveyed its sympathies to the injured individuals and their families.

The ministry stated that it is working closely with local authorities and has continued to provide consular support to the injured Ghanaians.

It disclosed that officials are monitoring the situation and will engage the relevant authorities when necessary.

The statement said Ghana remains committed to the protection and welfare of its citizens wherever they may be.

The ministry revealed that Ghana is supporting ongoing consultations within the United Nations aimed at securing a resolution that will lead to a ceasefire.

It stated that Ghana’s diplomatic missions will continue to coordinate updates and assistance as needed.

The ministry urged Ghanaian nationals living in the Gulf region to remain vigilant and follow directives issued by Ghanaian embassies and local authorities.

The drone incident near Dubai International Airport is part of escalating tensions in the region, with civilian infrastructure increasingly becoming targets of attacks.
