Government Accountability Series—Key achievements by agencies under the Interior Ministry.

Ghana Police Service
– Sustained anti-illegal mining operations.
– Establishment of a 24-Hour Economy Secretariat at the National Headquarters.
– High-impact, intelligence-led anti-robbery operations, achieving significant breakthroughs in eight (8) major criminal cases.
– Commissioning of a Police Hospital in Kumasi

Ghana Prisons Service
– Implementation of juvenile and secondary education initiatives
– Initiation of a 5,000-layer poultry project
– Cultivated 1,654 acres of crops to ensure food security in correctional facilities.
– Drafting of a 24-Hour Economy proposal, aligning prison operations with national production and productivity goals.
– Launch of a digital literacy programme under the One Million Coders Programme
– Collaboration with the YEA for Prison Support Staff Recruitment

National Identification Authority
– One hundred ninety thousand seven hundred seventy-five new Ghana card registrations and 10,290 foreign registrations have been made so far this year.
– Installation of security systems, enhancing physical and cyber security infrastructure.
– Additional premium centres have been acquired.
– A total of 600,000 registration backlogs have been cleared across 292 operational offices.
– Piloted online application and booking system at two premium centres in Accra and processed averagely 100 daily applications.
– Prestige Registration Services has also been launched in collaboration with SSNIT, the Ghana Commercial Bank, and four private companies in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions, offering exclusive home/office enrolment, as well as extended hours.
– Premium centres have also been expanded in the Central, Upper East, Upper West, and Northern Regions, resulting in a 2,000 increase in monthly enrolments.

Ghana National Fire Service
– 14,234 fire safety inspections conducted
– Issuance of 12,418 fire certificates, including 2,944 renewals
– Trained 5,214 fire volunteers
– Responded to 3,841 fire outbreaks nationwide
– Responded to 851 road traffic collisions

Ghana Immigration Service
– Development of a 24-Hour Economy policy paper
– 13 human trafficking, illegal entry and document forgery suspects prosecuted as of June 2025
– Successful identification of 111 fraud cases out of 263, preventing identity theft and related crimes.
– Rescued 21 human trafficking victims, intercepted 291 irregular migrants, and arrested 223 individuals for immigration breaches.
– Intercepted smuggled goods, including 406 bags of cocoa beans, 1,115 jerry cans, 11 bags of fertiliser, and 50 gallons of fuel, with one vehicle impounded.

Narcotics Control Commission
– Seized 192Kg of cocaine, 90Kg of cannabis and 17.9kg of gold bars, disrupting major trafficking operations
– Secured 15 district offices across seven regions
– Operationalised toll-free lines, increasing citizen tip-offs and participation.
– Acquisition of a 100-acre parcel of land in Aboasa for the development of a training academy.

National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO)
– Responded to 332 emergencies and conducted 2,268 field assessments.
– Engagements with 2,174 communities to develop participatory disaster risk reduction plans.
– Desilted 243 drainage channels across several communities, improving water flow in urban areas
– Provision of relief to 11,524 disaster victims across the country

National Peace Council
– Resolution of 429 conflict cases, including 168 chieftaincy disputes, 105 land-related conflicts and 57 ethnic disputes
– Establishment of Local and Community Peace Committees in conflict-prone areas.
– Inauguration of the Ahafo and Savannah Regional Peace Councils.

Ghana Refugee Board
– Launched the Upper West Registration Campaign, processing an estimated 7,000 Burkinabe nationals who moved to Ghana seeking protection and documentation.
– Successfully integrated 500 Ivorian refugees and given them a residence permit in collaboration with UNHCR and GIS.
– Registration of 1,522 new refugees and asylum seekers

Gaming Commission of Ghana
– Conducted compliance monitoring and investigations while enforcing operational standards.
– Secured four regional offices in Ho, Agona Swedru, Sefwi-Wiawso and Asante Bekwai.
– Two illegal casinos clumped down in Tema and Osu.
– Engaged GRA and operators to roll out the Gaming Administration Monitoring System (GAMS), laying the foundation for real-time revenue monitoring.
– Initiated plans for a rehabilitation centre in the Ashanti Region.
