Gender Ministry Holds Meeting to Discuss the 2025 Annual Report on Trafficking in Persons

The Human Trafficking Secretariat under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has organised a stakeholders’ meeting to compile and validate Ghana’s 2025 Annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report.

The meeting held in Accra focused on the 2025 TIP questionnaire, the collation of victim identification and prosecution data, and the validation of information, which will inform the official government report.

The Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, Madam Abena Annobea Asare, highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and the need for accurate, timely and credible data to support effective national reporting on trafficking in persons.

She noted that the compilation and validation process plays a crucial role in reflecting the country’s efforts, identifying gaps and informing interventions aimed at preventing trafficking, protecting victims and prosecuting offenders.

“Ghana’s Annual Trafficking in Persons Report provides a comprehensive assessment of trafficking trends in the country, outlines government interventions in prevention, victim protection and prosecution, and measures progress made in combating the crime,” she stated.

She added that the report serves as a tool for policy review, programme planning and national decision-making, also fulfilling Ghana’s regional and international reporting obligations and forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to strengthen coordination, improve data quality and promote a multi-sectoral response to trafficking in persons.

Participants reviewed submissions, clarified reporting requirements and addressed outstanding data issues to ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting institutions.
