Gender Minister Undertakes Monitoring Visit to Weija-Gbawe Schools Under GSFP

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) to more schools across the country.

She said the objective of the government’s is to ensure that children not only benefit from access to meals but also receive nutritious, high-quality food that supports their health and academic growth.

She said this when she conducted another monitoring visit in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality to assess the quality of meals prepared and served to pupils under the GSFP yesterday in Accra.

Dr Naa Momo observed the meals being served to the pupils and engaged the children on their level of satisfaction with the food.

She admitted that although the current GHS 2.00 per child per day feeding grant might not be enough, caterers have shown commitment and dedication in creating nutritious meals.

She assured the caterers that government is committed to prompt payments once accurate data on their cooking days is submitted, adding that delays will be minimized to keep the programme sustainable.

As part of her visit, the Minister, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive for Weija Gbawe, Mr Felix Odamptey Lamptey, presented boxes of biscuits and drinks to pupils of the Cluster of Schools to encourage them and complement their meals.
