
President Mahama Visits Singapore Education and Biotech Facilities

The President made the site visits to understand local experiences in higher education and to observe public and private sector collaboration in life sciences and biotechnology.
At the Singapore Institute of Technology, President Mahama toured the university that serves as Singapore’s first institution of applied learning. SIT offers industry-relevant degree programs designed to prepare graduates to be work-ready and future-ready professionals.
The university’s approach integrates work and study through authentic learning in real-world environments with key strategic partners. Its focus on applied research with business impact aims to help industry innovate and grow.
President Mahama visited SIT’s new central campus within the Punggol Digital District, which features a learning environment where academia and industry are closely integrated with the community.
The President then visited Biopolis, located in the one-north district, which serves as Singapore’s premier research hub for biomedical sciences. The facility hosts leading public and private biomedical research institutes and organizations.
Biopolis anchors the development of the entire research and development value chain of life sciences, covering basic drug discovery, clinical development and medical technology research. It supports the biomedical industry as part of Singapore’s economic growth strategy.
The visits allowed President Mahama to see firsthand how Singapore combines education, research and industry collaboration to drive innovation and economic development.
