
The Public Relations Coordinating Division (PRCD) helps the Department to undertake its mandate by providing Public Relations support to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs), and Ghana’s Foreign Missions abroad. The Division through the PR Management Unit and Sector-Specific PR Reporting Unit implements the Department’s publicity and advocacy plans and provides technical assistance on media relations, social marketing and networking activities.
The Division currently has eighty-eight (88) PROs serving in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs), and Ghana’s Foreign Missions.
Functions of the Public Relations Coordinating Division
- Provide PR professionals for MMDAs and ensure PROs serve the needs of client organisations.
- Support PROs to develop and implement annual PR and stakeholder engagement plans for their client organisation.
- Collate and analyse PR reports on the activities within the MDAs, RCCs and MMDAs including Ghana’s Missions abroad, for the attention of the Director of ISD and the Sector Minister.
- Organize annual training and capacity building programmes for PROs.
- Undertake annual Public Relations Performance Evaluation Exercises.
PR Management Unit
This Unit Coordinates the public relations activities of PROs in terms of training, performance assessment, monitoring, and quality assurance for effective government communication.
Sector-Specific PR Reporting Unit
This Unit is responsible for collating and analyzing PR reports from PROs submitted on the government online PR reporting and information sharing platform known as Bonsu.
The unit has been sectorized to six sectors namely:

Some Achievements of the Public Relations Coordinating Division
- Development and operationalization of real-time reporting platform to coordinate PROs activities within the public service.
- Successfully organized the 2023 Government PR Excellence Awards (GoPREX), which recognizes excellence in government PR as well as PR-Friendly Chief Directors/Heads of Institutions.
- Training and capacity building initiative for Public Relations Officers over the last three years on topics such as Public Policy Communication and Curbing Misinformation and Disinformation by reputable training outfits in Ghana.
- Institutionalization of the PROs Virtual Need-to-Know Series, where government PROs brief colleague PROs and ISD officers nationwide on major government programmes in their institutions.
