As part of its mandate, the Right to Information Unit of the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has intensified the education on Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) across the various public and private institutions in the municipality.
In view of this, students of Great Dafco Senior High School were sensitized on the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) on Monday, April 17, 2023, at the schoolâs assembly hall. The aim of the exercise was to introduce key areas of ACT 989 to the students.

The Right to Information Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Asare, in a presentation, stated that the RTI law was very important because it would help build a culture of transparency and accountability in public affairs.
He also gave the general overview of Act 989 and spoke on responsibilities of public institutions under Act 989, exemptions to the right to information, among others.

The session allowed the participants to ask questions for further clarifications.
In a closing remark, Mr. Asare, the RTI Officer, indicated that with the implementation of the Right to Information Act, access to information is guaranteed and that applicants who felt that they had been wrongly denied access to information have the right to first seek internal review and if still not satisfied with the decision can appeal at the RTI Commission which is an external body mandated to promote, protect and enforce the RTI.
