The Krofrom Students Union officially launched its association on March 6, 2025, with a significant highlight on the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The RTI Officer for Manhyia North Sub-Metro Assembly, in collaboration with RTI officers from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Kwabre East Municipal Assembly, Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, and the Information Services Department (ISD) regional office, led a sensitization session to educate students and dignitaries on their right to access public information.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North Constituency, Hon. Akwasi Konadu, Presiding Member for KMA, Hon. Patrick Kwame Frimpong, and Mr. Papa Yaw Koomson, Ashanti Region Cluster Head for Access Bank Plc. The RTI officers provided insights into the provisions of the RTI Act, the process of requesting information from public institutions, and the limitations set by the law. An interactive session followed, allowing students and dignitaries to seek clarifications and understand how to exercise their right to information effectively.
The sensitization aimed to empower participants to demand transparency and accountability from government institutions. By educating students and community leaders on their rights under the RTI Act, the initiative encouraged responsible citizenship and active participation in governance. The officers also emphasized the significance of access to information in fostering informed decision-making and preventing misinformation.

The program was well-received, with students and officials showing enthusiasm in engaging with the RTI officers. Many participants asked questions about the law’s application and exemptions, receiving clear guidance from the experts. The successful event reinforced the importance of the RTI Act in community development and governance, highlighting the role of information officers in promoting an open and accountable administration.
