Prior to a community engagement on the Right to Information Act within the Oforikrom Municipality, the Right to Information Officer of the Oforikrom Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Asare conducted a sensitization exercise for the Information Center Operators in the municipality.
The meeting which was held today at the Assemblyâs Conference Room was to make known of the Act to the Information Center Operators.
Mr. Asare stated that the RTI law was very important because it would help build a culture of transparency and accountability in public affairs.
He also gave the general overview of Act 989 and spoke on responsibilities of public institutions under Act 989, exemptions to the right to information, among others.
The session allowed the Information Center Operators to ask questions for further clarifications.
Also in attendance were the Municipal Information Officer, Mrs. Josephine Adubea Larbi, the Municipal RTI Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Asare, Principal Cinema Commentator, Madam Felicia and two National Service Personnel.
