Media Houses Must Apply for State Funeral Accreditation by Wednesday Deadline

Media houses who wish to cover the state funeral in honor of the victims of the August 6 helicopter crash must submit accreditation applications for photographers and camera operators only via email to accreditation@isd.gov.gh by midday GMT on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Spokesperson to the President and Minister of state in charge of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, issued the directive as part of detailed media coverage guidelines for Friday’s ceremony honoring the eight helicopter crash victims at Black Star Square.

The government will grant limited accreditation to access the special media zone within the inner perimeter to ensure optimal space and decorum during the ceremony.

“Reporters are welcome to join mourners and well-wishers or access media stands, which do not require accreditation,” the statement emphasised.

To facilitate a wide live coverage, Presidency Communications will provide a dedicated clean feed for all local and international television stations wishing to air the event live.

According to the statement, the feed will be available on site and through a dedicated Outdoor Broadcast channel on DTH decoders, serving as the primary source for live broadcasts.

Radio and television stations planning studio discussions or live remote broadcasts will be assigned a designated area with access points to connect for clean video feed and audio, which does not require accreditation.

“We appreciate the media’s understanding and cooperation in ensuring a dignified and respectful State Funeral for our departed compatriots,” Kwakye Ofosu stated in the press release.

The state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square, beginning at 8:00 AM, to honor the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom.
