A workshop on the Right to Information (RTI) law (Act 989) was held at KNUST Senior High School’s assembly hall. Led by Mr. Emmanuel Asare, the RTI Officer of the Oforikrom Assembly, the session aimed to educate students about their rights and responsibilities under the RTI Act.
Mr. Asare emphasized that access to information is a fundamental right, as stated in Article 21 (1) (f) of the 1992 Constitution. He further highlighted the RTI Act’s goals of empowering citizens, promoting government transparency and accountability, combating corruption, and strengthening democracy.
The workshop provided valuable insights, enabling students to actively participate in governance, hold public institutions accountable, and contribute to society’s development. The Oforikrom Assembly’s commitment to raising awareness through initiatives like this demonstrates their dedication to fostering an informed and transparent society.
