The Information Services Department (ISD) has bid farewell to the former Head of the Public Education Coordinating Division (PECD), Mr. Nelson Kofi Akatey, a longstanding and dedicated member of the Department, who is going on retirement after decades of invaluable service.
In recognition of his years of service and dedication, the Divisional heads and colleagues gathered on Friday to celebrate Mr. Akatey’s impressive career and his significant contributions.
The retiring Head of the PECD, Mr Akatey, has been a pillar of the Department for 15 years.
During his tenure, he was instrumental in shaping the division’s strategies and initiatives, ensuring that the public remains well-informed about the department’s services and resources.
Under his leadership, PECD has achieved significant milestones, including the successful implementation of various awareness campaigns and outreach programs.
His commitment to transparency and accessibility has greatly enhanced the Department’s relationship with the community it serves
The Acting Director of the Department, Dr Winnifred Nafisah Mahama praised Mr. Akatey for his unwavering commitment, exceptional work ethic and the impact he made on the Department.
“Mr. Nelson Kofi Akatey, you served your country Ghana through the Information Services Department by rendering quality and invaluable service that is inured to the greater benefit of the Department. As you bring an end to your service to Mother Ghana and embark on a new chapter of your life, we at ISD express our profound gratitude for your dedicated service to the Department over the years,â she added.
To honour his remarkable career, Dr. Mahama presented Mr. Akatey with a citation and a cash token symbolising the Department’s appreciation for his hard work and dedication.
Mr. Akatey, in his farewell speech, expressed gratitude to his colleagues and the Department for their support over the years.
He stated, “It has been a privilege to work with such a dedicated team. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and I look forward to watching the department continue to thrive.”
His colleagues expressed their gratitude and admiration for his unwavering professionalism and mentorship.

The send-off party, held at the ISD head office was attended by staff members from across the Information Services Department.
