The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned a new police station at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), aimed at enhancing security and improving policing services within the university community.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday in Accra, the Minister commended the Ghana Police Service and the UPSA community for their collaboration in bringing the project to fruition.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening policing services across the country.
“This police station is a testament to our dedication to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens,” he stated.
Mr. Muntaka reiterated the government’s continued support for security agencies to protect lives and property. He urged the university community to work closely with the police to identify and address security concerns while fostering a culture of safety and vigilance.
The Vice Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, expressed gratitude to the Government and the Ghana Police Service for their partnership in establishing the facility.
He noted that the new police station would significantly enhance the safety of students, staff, and visitors as well as contribute to a more secure and conducive learning environment.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for the Interior, Mr. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs. Doreen Annan, members of the Police Management Board and officials from the UPSA management team.
